Ths Summer, join us at Spandex City for our Tuesday Tabletop Tournament series! On June 4th, we will host an X-Wing Miniatures tournament at 6:30 pm. Then every week from June 11th through August 13th, join us for FREE OPEN GAMING from 6:30 - 7:30 pm and a Tuesday Tabletop Tournament from 7:30 - 9:00 pm.
You can win a great prize every week, and the summer season champion will receive a plaque on our Gamers' Wall of Fame! It's just $5.00 to enter each tournament (1 free child 14 and under per paying adult), and you can also get a Season Pass for unlimited tournament entries throughout the summer!
We've moved to a bigger, brighter location, just a half-mile down the street from our old location. Simple turn right out of our old parking lot and proceed to the next intersection. We are on the left in the shopping center with Bi-Lo, Mr. Geero, and Chinatown.
Spandex City is excited to announce that after three successful years in our current location, we will be moving to a new and improved location (which is just a half-mile down the street) during the month of April 2013!
This means our upcoming big events, like the Magic: Dragon's Maze Pre-release Weekend (April 26-28) and FREE COMIC BOOK DAY (Saturday, May 4) will be held at our new, improved location!

This event also kicks off our annual fundraiser for Youth Homes, a worthy charitable organization that works year-round to help struggling foster children in North Carolina. Wednesday 10/10/2012 is a big day for both Marvel and DC Comics, and we'll be celebrating with a limited number of FREE comic books at Spandex City!
On the Marvel side, we have the Uncanny Avengers #1 Launch Party! Our friends at the Sci-Fi Stack Exchange are sponsoring the event, and the first 10 customers with a subscription (for any title) who arrive that day will get a copy of "Uncanny Avengers #1" for FREE! The first 20 customers (including non-subscribers) to pick up a copy of "Uncanny Avengers #1" will receive a FREE button. On Sunday, November 13th, join us from 1:00 - 4:00 pm for our "Strategy Street Re-launch Event" at Spandex City. We will have fun and free demonstrations available for game players of all ages. We are focusing strongly around games that are easy to learn and quick to play at this event. You can play a game or two from start to finish, or you can "speed date" around the various demo stations to sample as many games as possible. (Also, we'll have the Panthers game on the big screen for multi-taskers!)
We'll also be launching "Play It Forward", an innovative money-saving game trade-in program. With "Play It Forward", you have convenient way to try out new board games and refresh your personal game collection at a minimal cost. Get more details here.
Spandex City and the Charlotte Geeks are proud to sponsor the 2011 Geek Gala, a charity benefit for Youth Homes, on Saturday 10/29. We'll have a family-oriented Pre-Gala at the store from 4 pm to 6 pm, followed by a "PG-13" event at the Charlotte Executive Park Marriott from 7 pm to midnight. Full details on both events are forthcoming, but you can expect the following at the Pre-Gala:

The All-New DC Universe is almost here! We'll have a special MIDNIGHT release of "Flashpoint #5" and :Justice League #1" at Spandex City Comics.
Doors will open at 11:30 pm on Tuesday, August 30th, and will stay open until 12:30 am on Wednesday, August 31st. We'll eat cake, watch classic cartoons, and have a super ONE-HOUR sale on all kinds of DC products (comics, graphic novels, action figures, and more). There will even be a very cool door prize!
