Tournament Formats and Policies

Limited "re-use" policy - During the course of a season, if a player wins a tournament, the pieces on that player's force cannot be used in later tournaments (unless they were pulled from a sealed booster).  The only pieces that can be duplicated are truly "generic" pieces (e.g. SHIELD agent, AIM agent, Parademon Grunt, League Assassin) in a single tournament.  Check with the store to see if your pieces are allowed to be duplicated.

We encourage a friendly and sportsmanlike playing environment.  Abusive language or behavior of any kind (including gloating) will be cause for disqualification!  There will also be many prizes available, so even if you don't win, you may still walk away a winner!

We will also have a 'standings board', so you can always see how you stack up!  You'll get points just for participating!  Are the standings just for bragging rights?  Not at all!  At the end of each season, we'll have a Championship tournament for both the standard and youth circuits.

In addition to our regular 3-month seasons, we will be hosting the "Infinity Gauntlet" challenge from January through August 2012.  One tournament each month will count both towards the regular season AND towards the Infinity Gauntlet Challenge (where the Grand Prize is nothing less than a colossal Thanos figure!)

Also, we are hosting the "Heroclix Supremacy League" for players who can't make it to our regular tournaments.  You can work your way into the center ring and defend your position to win the previously convention-exclusive Horsemen of the Apocalypse!

Tournament scoring is as follows:

  • Points equal to point-value of oppponents' pieces KO'd
  • If you completely eliminate another player's force, you automatically receive the MAXIMUM build total for that game
  • 100 point bonus for each game won
  • Bonus for finishing position (1st - 400; 2nd - 200, 3rd - 100); half-value for Youth
  • TIEBREAKER 1: Lowest build total of the force
  • TIEBREAKER 2: Lowest point value of highest-point piece on the force
  • TIEBREAKER 3: Dice Roll!
  • 250-point Bonus for each tournament entered
  • Players with a "bye" in any round will receive the AVERAGE score of the other winning players for that round

Just stay in the top 8 of your circuit (top 4 for youth), and you'll participate in a season-ending playoff tournament.  For the Spring 2012 season, each player's top 8 tournament results (minimum of 5 tournaments played) will be used to determine the final standings, so if you miss a tournament or enter the season a little late, you'll still be able to get the top spot!  Your participation point bonus will be added for every tournament you enter, not just the top 8.

The winner of the all-ages circuit will receive a $50.00 Spandex City store credit, and the winner of the youth circuit will receive a $20.00 store credit.  Both champions will also receive a trophy and an engraved spot on our "Wall of Fame".

Upcoming Tournaments

We are now in the the Spring 2012 Season (running late-March through June 2012).  For all constructed and reserve teams, there will be a "no duplicate, no repeat" rule for the entire season.  That means that if you win a tournament (aside from sealed tournament boosters), you cannot use any of the pieces that you brought in for that tournament in any other tournament for the season.  The no re-use policy will extend to the playoff tournament as well!

The Spring 2012 All-Ages Tournaments will be played every Thursday at 6:30 pm.  Here are the tournament formats for the season:
