Friday "Matinee" Magic (FMM) is the perfect warm-up event for regular Friday Night Magic (FNM)!  Just as the name suggests, it's a little more casual, a little earlier, and a little easier on the bank account! The whole tournament ends before 6:30, so you have plenty of time to continue on with your evening plans (or grab a bite to eat and rejoin us for 7 pm Friday Night Magic).

Even though Friday Night Magic at Spandex City is already extremely friendly and casual, some players are looking for an even easier entry-point into the world of Magic Tournaments!  Even experienced players should welcome this opportunity for extra-creative deck-building. 

In order to win any booster packs as prizes, your deck must be constructed using "Peasant" rules.  That means that in addition to your cards being from MODERN sets (8th Edition and newer), your 60-card deck (plus 15-card sideboard) must consist ONLY of common cards and at most five (5) uncommon cards!  This format keeps the "matinee" spirit alive, where no one can "buy" their way into a superior deck!

At Spandex City prizes are awarded based on the number of match points earned.  Each round will be "first to 2 wins", with a 45-minute time limit for each round.

You get 3 points for winning a match, and 1 point for a draw.  All prizes will be from Dragon's Maze!  Here is how we will award prizes after 3 rounds of play:

• 9 points - 3 booster packs, plus a promotional foil card
• 7 points - 2 booster packs
• 0 to 6 points - 1 booster pack

2 additional foil cards will be randomly awarded to players who did not already receive one.

This is a Modern Format tournament.  Your deck must consist only of cards printed in 8th Edition or newer.
